Makeup Mistakes
Makeup is an essential part of every woman’s life. Some women like to go minimalistic while some others like to flatter themselves a little bit more. Whichever category you fall into there’s no denying that everyone wants to put their best face forward. The right kind of makeup helps to accentuate your features and enhance your overall look. While there’s no harm in going bold and trying some offbeat looks, there are some basic makeup mistakes that you should always avoid in order to obtain a flawless look.
1. Mascara Over an Already Dried Coat
Reapplying mascara over an already dried coat is a total no-no. It will cause your lashes to clump and stick together, giving you a look of spider lashes. These makeup mistakes can put off your entire look.
It is rather recommended to wash off the dried coat of mascara and apply 2 or 3 coats of mascara over your lashes while they are still wet.
2. Overdrawing Your Natural Lip Line
There are several means of giving your lips a fuller and plumper look, but overdrawing on your natural lip line with a lip pencil is definitely not one of them. You can use contrasting shades for a fuller pout.
Use a slightly darker lip liner to define the bow and middle of the bottom lip, then blend it with a lighter shade liner to give the illusion of fuller lips.
3. Overdoing Your Eyebrows
While groomed and thick eyebrows are a fad right now, overdoing them can give you a very artificial and clumsy look.
Using a brow filler powder shade that either matches or are slightly lighter than your brow color will give you full looking, naturally defined brows without the heavy contrast.
4. Foundation Matching Hands Instead of Neck
The skin tones of your face and neck are always slightly different, while there will be a vast difference between your hands and face. Try to get a foundation shade that matches both your face and neck, such that the line of demarcation of the foundation is not noticeable.
It is recommended to try the foundation on your jawline first to get an appropriate shade.
5. Foundation on Foundation Touch Ups
If you need to touch up on your foundation, it is recommended to wash your face and start all over. Piling up on your foundation can make your face look cakey and aged. Foundation is supposed to create a perfect, smooth complexion and cover up any blemishes.
6. Zero Priming
Slathering foundation over chapped and dry skin can be horrific since it will make your skin look flaky instead of blending with your skin.
Prior to wearing makeup, exfoliate your skin properly to get rid of any flakiness and follow it up with a rich and hydrating moisturizer. Smoother skin means a much smoother application and finished look.
7. Dabbing on Blush
The art of blending is one you must learn since unblended makeup looks totally unnatural and unattractive. Don’t smile as you apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Doing so raises them so when your cheeks return to normal, the blush color ends up being lower on the face and closer to your mouth.
Putting blush on the lower part of your cheeks can draw your face down and look overdone. Use a contouring brush to blend the blush perfectly.
8. Lipstick on Natural Lips
We are all guilty of applying a few swipes of lipstick after lunch or coffee break to refresh our look. But this is one of the biggest makeup mistakes.
If you want your lip color to last and not dry out your lips, dab a bit of primer or foundation onto your lips prior to applying the lip color. This will make your lips look smooth and luscious all throughout the day.
9. Using Dirty Makeup Brushes
Bacteria can build up on your brushes due to makeup residues if they are not cleaned regularly. When you use these uncleaned brushes on your skin they can clog your pores and lead to breakouts and rashes.
It is recommended to clean your makeup brushes every other week with lukewarm water and shampoo.
10. Yesterday’s Makeup Look
You need to wash your face every single night to keep your skin healthy and glowing. Not washing off your makeup can be very harmful to your skin as the pores do not get any scope to breathe and so they may get clogged.
Use makeup remover and a good face wash, followed by a mild moisturizer.
